fibre groups on PN

Lot's of traffic in the 'Everthing else' group about the upcoming UK switchoff of traditional phone service and migration issues around solutions for that. Maybe a new group on Voip, SoGEA issues and so on?

Re: fibre groups on PN

Try looking in the section called "Home Phone"

Re: fibre groups on PN

Unfortunately PN doesn't supply a VoIP service, otherwise there would be sub-forum for that.
The sections are for help with PN provided services and issues with them.
That's why the majority of the VoIP, altnet etc. posts are put in everything else, they should probably go in Tech Help really.
Once the voice line is ceased the number goes into quarantine and that is where PN's dealing (and probably responsibility) with it ends.
SoGEA is broadband and related issues should be posted in the broadband forum.

This is clearly an issue for many PN customers. I've lost count of the different  places detail on this is cropping up. My suggestion is that a new group might add clarity.

Re: fibre groups on PN

It might be an issue for some PN customers, but that issue isn't with PN services which is what the grouping is for.
A new section would only be added if a new service was added.
So far a VoIP service has not been announced and it's unlikely there will be one.

Time for that still before the big switchoff next year!

Not if you are aware of BT Consumer Division intentions for the 'brands' within it.

Re: fibre groups on PN

A possible way forward on this could be to add a VOIP / Digital phone sub forum in the other forums section in the same way Gaming is.
It does not have to be a Plusnet product to be discussed there.
No doubt the current Home phone and mobile forums will disappear when those products are ceased in the near future.
You can check out but you can never leave ( easily)

Re: fibre groups on PN

@Protech I can see your reasoning there, @Protech , but these forums are to support products which PN sell - although I agree 'Gaming' itself isn't a PN product, and a little used board.

Agree about the Phone/Mobile boards, but if they are not on offer, there is little point in having them.

Re: fibre groups on PN

Gaming is a throwback to when PN had a traffic management platform and there were specific profiles and issues particular to gaming.
It's a redundant board really now.

Tech Help is probably where VoIP posts should go.

Although the Service InformationCommunity Announcements, and Latest Plusnet News forums haven't gone away even though Plusnet hasn't used them for several years.

There are in fact very few of the fora that will continue to be relevant.
