Unread PM count wrong

I'm permanently seeing My Messages[1] at the top of the forums when all messages have been read (in fact all recent messages have been deleted). Any ideas on how to get the count corrected?

I've just tried sending myself a PM to see what happened to the count. After you send a PM you are taken to your in box - the count had reset. Weird! Crazy
