Posting inflammatory messages on social media forums in order to get a rise out of other users can be a real problem as we all know. Driving both poster and moderator to distraction at times, why can't we have the option of just blocking them.
It's done with both facebook and twitter, and I suspect elsewhere - so why not here?
Ignorance is bliss, but ignoring is not always easy.
I made mention of this option some time ago @Minivanman and if MSMC the reply I got from @jaread83 was no due to the complications that would arise when rendering the page for the user.
Alongside those other "spammers" such as...
Typical of a low life parasite, latching on to others so they can suck whatever they can from you.
Another "commercial" ".............. see our website."
Could the first post of a new member on the forum not be automatically blocked until a mod has chance to read it first.? prior to it being posted.
True it might not stop some trolls who make the first few posts reasonable but then start to get abusive...
Another alternative might be to advise new members they join for a 3 month trial which can be terminated at any time without any reason given..?

I think you'll find that with just a little bit of practice it's really easy.
another "commercial" one ....."
Indeed, but easy or not some do not want to practice ignoring, especially when the insults become personal around here... and we all know where.
Sticks and stones we were taught as kids and sure, but words need regulation - which is why we have moderators?
I know.
I've seen a thread getting out of hand and nothing was done.
Meanwhile a comment I made (on a serious) thread got deleted.
Oh Well as Fleetwood Mac said.
Perhaps we need more moderators but.....
Who would be (brave) enough to put their name forward.
Substitute the word in brackets for your own word if you like.
Daft.

Who would want to be a moderator indeed, especially on the chat board. It is one thing sorting posts that are on the wrong board or contain personal details etc. but some posters on the chat board have very strong views which invariably provokes (sometimes deliberately I suspect) the opposite view point.
This sometimes leads to accusations of bullying, trolling, racism, etc., you name it, from the 'offended/hurt' party. I don't know sometimes whether the chat board needs a stricter moderator who would invariably be accused of bias and suppression of legitimate views or a nanny to point out that posters should grow up and play together nicely.
Moderator and Customer
If this helped - select the Thumb
If it fixed it, help others - select 'This Fixed My Problem'
It must be a great time to be a troll.
Every word now seems to have several opposing meanings.
So even when you think you are agreeing to something others can see you as just being..................
Whatever they want.
Even when you stop answering any of their posts "you're bullying".
Then they leave the forum.
But then the sloppy forum lets them re-join with a different id.
I'm sure a few are already wondering about a new member. Another reincarnation?
