Topic subscription - cannot let go

I have noticed that...

  1. Topics I have responded to, but have sought to unsubscribe from
  2. Posts split off from one I have responded to offer the option for me to subscribe to (inferring I am not subscribed)

... still give rise to notifications when someone responds to them.

It appears that the topic subscription model is broken.

In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
