Re: Site Errors (Slow pages, slow posting, connection reset, uploads failing)

If that was the case surely it would happen every morning but it doesn't. i have only had it on these two isolated occasions.

Re: Site Errors (Slow pages, slow posting, connection reset, uploads failing)

Just had connection timed out with a post with a single small attachment
Started again with a new post - same attachment and it worked
One very odd thing
Although I had cancelled the post and started again the image was still there waiting to be posted

Re: Site Errors (Slow pages, slow posting, connection reset, uploads failing)

Yes I've had that one on a couple of occasions. It doesn't occur with any regularity or predictability.
How does the chant/song go .......Why are we waiting, why are we waaaiting........
It must have been 15 seconds or more waiting for a preview of this post Roll_eyes
Things have been like treacle again this morning (since about 0800), everytime I've previewed or posted, PMs seem to be worse.
I was going to post in this thread yesterday (Sun.) - it was like treacle with added glue around 0600 just reading (not posting) waiting for pages to load, at around 0845 is was super speedy (in comparison) but later in the morning was back to normal - bad.
One thing I have noticed that causes pages to load more slowly on occasions, and that is when there's stuff from external sites to load, usually the crap in people's sigs.
It's all so random, it certainly isn't worth wiresharking before some daft person suggests that, apart from which I think Plusnet have been provided with quite sufficient technical detail by people with extremely good "networks" knowledge to know what the problem is and how to resolve it.
It's about time PN woke up to the fact that this forum is a valuable resource to them, but is now becoming a bit of an unfunny joke.
I am pee'd off by the fact that some of the threads that I've been posting in have taken at least twice, 3 or 4 times or more, as much of my time as it should have done  Angry

Re: Site Errors (Slow pages, slow posting, connection reset, uploads failing)

I've not noticed these forums being especially bad recently, but then I don't post much and don't read a lot of the threads. And I turned off signatures and avatars a while ago.

Re: Site Errors (Slow pages, slow posting, connection reset, uploads failing)

I think a main factor is the software is so much outdated & hash modified to / for PN, that, the modern browser can not cope adequately
That is why I suggested a new forum base
If PN are worried about costs, there are plenty of free forums to choose from

I just clicked on a link to a post and it just sat there saying connecting while I continued looking at other threads on a second tab

I don't believe this is an SMF issue.

Nor do I, in view of the data PN have already been given, so I don't know why you are suggesting it might be TORPC.
However, I DO think it would be a good idea to update to the latest version for a whole variety of reasons which you can no doubt discover on the SMF site.
Is that such a big job Kelly?

Re: Site Errors (Slow pages, slow posting, connection reset, uploads failing)

I am not saying it is bee all & end all the of the cause(s) to the problematic issue(s)
What I am saying
It is a main factor, of being on an old outdated code base
Of course there are other factors to be taken into consideration
But update / upgrade to the latest code should help to some degree & wouldn't hurt for various reasons

Given that I know who and what that is can you try switching off avatars and signatures and see if things improve
