When typing in long replies the text disappears below the input box.
I have to use the scrolly bar to get to that text but when I type it disappears again from view and I have to guess what I'm typing.
Is there a setting I need to adjust?

dont think so
but you can compose it in a text editor, then copy and past it into the forum inbox

I use  a "Resizable Text Fields" script with Greasemonkey in Firefox.
This allows me to drag the message textbox to any size, so that I can see all of the text at the same time.

Moved to what I think is a more suitable slot and title changed a bit

I created a new thread then merged it with this thread and selected "change all the posts to the new title"
