Re: Inconsistency in Forum View post count -v- Unread Posts

@jaread83  Well!  The problem "went away" after your last message.  The 'stuck' count on both boards reset to zero.

Sad to report this morning that the Business board is once again 'Stuck' with a Count of '1' at Forum level.  See screen shots.

As reported in an earlier post, at times during the day the Count displays correctly as '0'.

So - the core problem still appears to be extant.Crazy2

Could you edit your post to include the screenshots?

Re: Inconsistency in Forum View post count -v- Unread Posts

Thanks for posting those. I just tried it myself and manually read all the threads in the board. Went back to the category view and the counter is at 0. If you visit the business board, are there any threads highlighted as being unread from that view?

I will go back to Lithium about this now as this is still happening and I would be none the wiser if you hadn't told me.

edit: email has been sent requesting that this be investigated further.

Re: Inconsistency in Forum View post count -v- Unread Posts

Thanks Jack.  I did check at board level that there were no unread posts prior to making the report, but the Unread posts screen provides a better 'snapshot' (IMO).

Just rechecked.  At Forum level reporting '2' unread, but at board level there was only '1' new post.  Read it, back at Forum level it now reports a Count of '1'.

Possibly more evidence that it is linked to the server(?) that you end up connected to?

Re: Inconsistency in Forum View post count -v- Unread Posts

FWI at the time of posting, I have the forum summary showing 1 unread post on "My Orders" but when I click the "Read unread posts(1)" link, I get the "There is nothing to read" message.

Re: Inconsistency in Forum View post count -v- Unread Posts

It's creeping!

At the time of posting, I now also have the forum summary showing 1 unread post on "Everything else" but when I click the "Read unread posts(1)" link, I get the "There is nothing to read" message.

But I don't see the problem @Townman reports on the "My Orders" board. Undecided

Whatever Lithium did Jack, it didn't fix it.

Re: Inconsistency in Forum View post count -v- Unread Posts

Right now - I see 1 unread in summary and no unread posts in details on the "My Account/Billing" forum.

@LouisaMartin - I have raised this as a follow up to Lithium advising that their database fix did not resolve the issue. Can you check in on the status in my absence next week?

Re: Inconsistency in Forum View post count -v- Unread Posts

I have been told by Lithium that they have repaired the database for that particular board. Finger crosses this will now be a squashed bug but I will remain skeptical for now. If this problem comes back, I need to let Lithium know as soon as it happens.

Thanks for your patience on this matter.

Re: Inconsistency in Forum View post count -v- Unread Posts

Thanks @jaread83.   I remain sceptical as it occurred over a number of boards as evidenced by reports from at least myself and @Townman.  Not always on the same boards.  So Lithium have (possibly?) 'fixed' the database(s) but not the underlying cause of why it happens.

I was seeing the problem across three boards at one point and eventually did a "Mark all posts as read".  That was about 10 days ago and not seen a recurrence of the problem yet.

Time will tell.  Angel

Re: Inconsistency in Forum View post count -v- Unread Posts

I have sent off a support ticket under the same case ID referencing your screenshots. This doesn't seem to be a bug that will go away anytime soon unless a product developer can get into the guts of the code and see whats going on.

Personally, I think this could be something to do with the unverified users having the ability to post but the post would not show up until the email is verified.. I could be wrong though.

Will keep you all posted about whats going on when I get a reply from Lithium.

I am seeing this issue on the community feedback board at the time of making this post ... Which given its to that board might change matters!?

Re: Inconsistency in Forum View post count -v- Unread Posts

I concur with @Townman  seeing a count of 1 'unread' on this board again.  Was OK up until about 14:00.
