Re: Images

@Champnet

I think checking links whether to other sites or embedded images/videos comes within the mod remit to ensure that the PN brand is not compromised and remains family friendly.

Regularly checking images is nothing new but having them hidden till checked is and we are still getting used to doing this. It's early days and I'm certain any issues will be ironed out in due course.

Although I appreciate that you (the mods) and  the SU's are 'restricted', by virtue of your roles, in what you can or can't say as to how the forum operates, I - personally - don't quite get your drift. In all my years here, apart from the 'incident' which effectively killed the General Chat board, I have not seen much that renders this forum 'family unfriendly' - bearing in mind it is not a 'family' forum anyway.

Having the images hidden till checked is the result of the failure to get  into place a system  - in the two years allowed - to automatically check said images, leaving those of us who relied upon them to help others in a position where that is now close to impossible - which was the reason I started this topic three months ago, and we are still waiting for any meaningful resolution. NOT getting at any mods/SU's, but becoming extremely frustrated at the lack of action/response from the business.

@James_B  Any progress on speeding up/automating the 'moderation' procedure?

Re: Images

Hi @jab1,

In the short term there aren't going to be any changes to the current moderation process, but it is a consideration for future platform updates.

Re: Images

And we are still waiting, @James_B . The current situation is untenable, as it makes it impossible for any forum member, unless they are SU's or mods to answer any query posted, where images are involved. Almost makes me wonder why i bother, sometimes.

Re: Images

@James_B

As we have now got to this topic's first birthday, I feel it is fair to ask what progress, if any, has been made?

I appreciate there have been 'answers', from yourself and mods/SU's, but you are restricted to posting what your 'superiors' will allow, and others are restricted by whatever they had to sign to become what they are.

To be brutally frank and honest, it is clear that BT Consumer are determined to make a once thriving and USEFUL resource into a clone of the BT Retail forum, which I encountered many years ago, when attempting to help other family members who were then customers there - they no longer are, by the way, having been totally disillusioned by the level of 'support' they received.

As an aside, but connected, may I ask why, when they do deign to grace the forum, the much-vaunted 'improved Help Team are as much use as a chocolate teapot? I have a reasonably good idea of the answer to that, but would appreciate your comments.

@James_B

As another aside, it'd be interesting to know whether or not images sent in PMs to other forum users are also subject to scrutinisation / approval?

@James_B

It's now a full week since raising the above query, so in the absence of a reply to the contrary, I think it would probably be wise to assume that "Yes, images sent via PM are subject to approval", which then begs the further question "Are PMs between forum users now being read by a third party?", meaning they're no longer actually 'Private Messages' at all.

Re: Images

@RobPN As @James_B has very recently - today and yesterday - been logged into the forum, but not had the courtesy to reply to either of us, I think we can safely say that those who control him have no answers that make them look even reasonably prepared to engage with users .

I have said above that the intention is to make the PN forum as useless as the BT variety, and in view of the deafening silence, I think we can safely take that as a given.

Re: Images

@jab1 - I'm still catching up on my notifications after my summer holiday.

On image moderation, there are no further updates to share since my post in January. Our current platform does not support AI/automated image moderation, which means images must be reviewed manually before they can be published. Automated moderation is included in the roadmap for our next major platform upgrade, but I don't currently have any timescales to share. As always, we'll communicate any changes as soon as we have confirmed details.

I also wanted to address the comments about the Help Team. While much of their work isn't always visible on the forums, the team provides support in a number of ways behind the scenes. This includes escalating issues affecting vulnerable customers, triaging complex individual cases to specialist teams across the business, identifying emerging trends, and raising wider customer impacting issues with our incident management teams. These activities often help drive investigations and resolutions that benefit a much larger group of customers than those directly involved in a discussion thread.

We appreciate all feedback and will continue looking for ways to improve both the community experience and the support we provide.

@RobPN - an image included in a Private Message is not held for Image Moderation approval before the message is delivered.

Re: Images

Fair enough @James_B , and thank you for making a decision of mine easier.

As regards the Help Team, they are all but invisible on here, and with a very few honourable exceptions - from my personal viewpoint - not a great deal of help.

I give up.
