@Anonymous

Only PN subscribers allowed to post?

Quite right, nothing like a bit of apartheid is there.

Only current or former customers would be preferable AFAIC.

Re: General Chat

Indeed @198kHz as those former customers might well come back, but under the present climate around here at the moment... I'd not hold my breath.

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark, that's for sure.

Things often seem to go wrong with newly ex customers so that would be pretty necessary.

And what about those posts where bereaved family members come for assistance, for example?

Well they wouldn't have to ask in GC, they could ask somewhere like Billing or Everything else for example.

The consensus is about preventing the world and his dog from running wild in GC.

EDIT:  Or if it's really not possible to separate that off, they could join using the details of the account they're making contact about.

Re: General Chat

The responses are to a post where GC was specifically mentioned as removed.

Occasionally family members do join the forum after a bereavement to seek assistance - most likely in extremis because they don't get a prompt answer on the phone, and of course there isn't a published email address.

Joining a forum would surely not be anyone's first choice in those circumstances.

Re: General Chat

Interesting to note.... that... in this thread..... entitled...  " Is General Chat going to return"

https://community.plus.net/t5/Community-Site-Feedback/bd-p/Community

the Community Gaffer JonoH requested the thread to be locked, and it was duly locked by MAV  (one of the mods)

As can be seen here .....

NO PADLOCK.png

However, it is noted that there is NO PADLOCK showing on the thread listing page against the thread being locked by MAV

Strange then that just a bit further down... another thread IS also locked.... and is showing the padlock....

No Padlock from MAV.png

Does this mean that someone has actually taken notice of the complaints about the number of padlocks appearing on thread titles ? ? ? ? ?Huh

Can we have an update, please, on whether General Chat is going to be re-instated,

Re: General Chat

The padlock will be there @shutter but is being replaced by the "Fixed" icon which is why you see that and not the padlock.

Re: General Chat

Erm... no... it is not "fixed"... it is LOCKED...  If you are correct, then why is the 7up thread LOCKE by MAV showing a padlock and not a "Fixed" icon  ? ? ?

(although.. I suppose... technically, if a Community Gaffer asks for it to be locked... then it must be fixed.  Roll_eyesUndecidedRoll_eyes  )

Re: General Chat

@shutter - It is 'Fixed' because I marked it as fixed when Jono replied at post number 4. So, I'm assuming that this icon is applied after the locked icon which is why you don't see it.

Re: General Chat

Correction to my last... the 7up thread was not "locked" by MAV.. but by Dvorak.

@Mook  so .. you marked it as "fixed"... After.... it was "Locked"... therefore the padlock was "replaced" by the "Tick" for it being fixed  ? ? ?  sounds logical...

BUT... (as you said.)...  ----->   this icon is applied after the locked icon which is why you don't see it.

how come you were able to reply  *fixed*  to a previously "locked" thread  ? ? ? ? Undecided
