Create a new PlusNet Linux user forum

I assume that this is the right place to ask for creating a new Linux user forum.  There's a thread that has been running for yonks in the Community Support forum.   A few guys have already suggested that there's a need for it given the interest of some PN users to migrate to Linux.  It's already reached 18 pages and growing which makes it difficult to search for solutions.
What do you think PN?  Shall we start a new forum?

Re: Create a new PlusNet Linux user forum

Yes please - but perhaps PlusNet should add this as a poll onto their front page.

Re: Create a new PlusNet Linux user forum

I think that a dedicated Linux user forum would be a great idea, and would be a good move by PlusNet to show that they are 'Linux friendly', if not a dedicated forum perhaps an 'alternative OS' forum to cover not just Linux, but *BSD and Solaris and the other operating systems.

Re: Create a new PlusNet Linux user forum

We have been planning a re-vamp of the layout of our forums for some time.
Trouble is, we [the moderators] don't have enough time between us ATM to do the work.
It is in the pipeline though, and we will be consulting with the community when we get round to it. Wink

Re: Create a new PlusNet Linux user forum

The are plenty of dedicated linux forums around already where I suspect there is a lot more knowledge so don't see the need for another one.

Re: Create a new PlusNet Linux user forum

i do, as a way of offering encouragement to those willing to test the linux waters.  an introduction and a little help here and they can then join the relevant help forum.

Re: Create a new PlusNet Linux user forum

There are also lots of other forums for hardware support, broadband support etc and that doesn't stop us having our own. I would welcome a Linux section.

Re: Create a new PlusNet Linux user forum

I would like to see a Linux forum where we could specialise in assisting with any aspects of the Plusnet service, amongst more general Linux questions.
It is rising in market share slowly, as more and more people are realising that it is a viable alternative to Microsoft products.

Re: Create a new PlusNet Linux user forum

It would be appropriate since my wireless router runs a hugely reduced version of Linux (Busybox).

/might be a different space, but there will certainly be a space filled with a thread on this shortlyish.
