Community Site Roadmap

I've posted up the community site roadmap detailing the modifications & enhancements we're planning for the community site in the months to come. Please let me know what you think, ideas & suggestions welcome. After all, it's your community!

Re: Community Site Roadmap

Looks very good apart from one thing:
Is there really a need for a tool similar to PUGIT to be developed for the community site? Couldn't you work with PUG to develop the existing tool to meet your needs and allow access from the community site, rather than duplication of effort?

We would absolutely work with PUG, although there might be slightly different aims in the two things, the tools need to inter-operate at the very least.
It's most important though that this interacts with our own internal ideas, customer support centre, project management and prioritisation processes in order for it to work and become central to our development process. To do that it will really need to be a tool we do the bulk of the core development on.
This is my personal top priority for next year - I want us to become driven by our customers and our community, so we can deliver the things first that people actually want most.
So, take http://ideastorm.com, add http://vagueware.com, mix it up with http://usergroup.plus.net/pugit (Especially the moderation and collaboration elements as we absolutely need customers to help us build the solution) and then make it all part of our own Workplace system with the front end on the community site and you have what I want to achieve!
It's an ambitious one, but if it comes off it could be one of the things that really sets us apart from the rest.

Re: Community Site Roadmap

Coo, carry on at this rate and you will know what we want before we want it  :o!
It sounds good and let’s hope you get the ‘free hand’ you need to do it. I do like the idea of the ‘Karma’ as I noticed this on another site and thought it a good idea if implemented correctly.
Not so sure about ‘Groups’ or the ‘Expanded Profiles’, the groups ‘could’ become ‘elitist’ and may alienate other users and the ‘Expanded profiles’ could be a security risk for ‘information collectors’ out there (as seen all to often on TV).
