Broadband & Routers Forum

The rate of usage of this forum seems to be getting out of hand these days. I note, for the first time, that today's postings have spilled (just) over to page 2. I can not devise a cure myself but perhaps someone can devise a split off subject heading that could be added to get back to sensible proportions, this must be the most voluble area of them all!

Re: Broadband & Routers Forum

A lot of us use UNREAD POSTS which shows you all the unread posts since your last visit across all forums. Moving some topics to a different forum won't make a scrap of difference to how many pages that takes.

Re: Broadband & Routers Forum

You could easily split-off "Please nudge my Current Line Speed setting" to its own topic.  And if you wanted to then divide Broadband and Routers into "Broadband", "Fibre Broadband and "Routers".
If one relies on Unread Posts then there is no real point in splitting the forum into different topic headings at all - could all be one big mess.

Re: Broadband & Routers Forum

I'd also suggest splitting into ADSL and FTTC sub-forums as it's very confusing as it is...

Re: Broadband & Routers Forum

The same router is used for ADSL and FTTC. For router issues where the type of connection is not relevant we'd not want it split across forums.

Re: Broadband & Routers Forum

The more forums we have, the longer the page gets and the more confusing it looks and is. Last time we restructured the forums we got rid of sub-forums and tried to pull everything into as few as possible. Maybe it's time to revisit that?

Re: Broadband & Routers Forum

I think I know exactly what it would achieve: more posts in wrongs forums for the moderators to move! Tongue

Re: Broadband & Routers Forum

thought as much Roll_eyes
i can imagine there been lots of moving of posts between two boards so similar in nature. Much prefer to have them all in one place.

Re: Broadband & Routers Forum

That was on the ninth!
I have one thing to say about plusnet (whoever - the yorkshire tea boys)
Technical support when you know how to ask for it, properly with measured decorum, is second to non.
If any of the team might hear please pass it on.
My story might unfold if required all I can say is it was sorted out!
Your comment was 21 days ago the amount of time all my systems have beeen down (or near the ground). Landline voice the lot! - But for now thank you plusnet for getting involved.

Re: Broadband & Routers Forum

Yes it's getting very silly - there were at least three of those on here yesterday.
Perhaps we should start collating them to give the issue more exposure?
Edit: It's bad enough when it's a fibre upgrade for an existing PN user, or a fault for an existing user. But when it's someone migrating in it's a terrible first impression. From yesterday I'm wondering who is to blame for most of them as Plusnet have held their hands up at least a couple of times.

Re: Broadband & Routers Forum

Maybe if someone took their supplier to the small claims court for non-delivery, resulting in them being out of pocket?

Gets my vote, would take also a lot of the FEEDBACK posts as well.  Seems to me that FEEDBACK is a bit skewed, as it is often used to provide feedback on failed service, related to "Broadband" or "FTTC" or "Router issues" which might be better placed in the specific subject forums.
Any plan to review the structure needs to also consider the provision of guidance on whcih is the more appropriate forum for a particular post.
Cheers,
Kevin
