Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

I made a request to change to unlimited a couple of days ago
And just got an email to say interleaving will be turned off. Is that normal?

The only thing that's worrying me about the unlimited is the  removal of traffic shaping. Is the free for all going to mean a slow down on streaming and VOIP?.

No.  Prioritisation still occurs.

I'm guessing by that you are concerned that heavy use by other users may affect your streaming or VoIP. They've told us that they have very significantly increased capacity so that everyone on Unlimited can run at line speed without affecting others irrespective of the type of traffic.
On your own line traffic management will still be applied to prioritise the traffic so that your own use of say P2P does not affect your streaming and VoIP.

This has just been posted and answers quite a few questions in relation to traffic management - and I even get a mention  Grin Grin

Just tried changing from Fibre Extra to Unlimited. Got this:
Quote
There's something we should mention...
It looks like a temporary fault has stopped us from checking your line. If your happy to proceed without a speed estimate, click "Continue without a speed estimate" below.

(The word highlighted in bold is for Plusnet's grammar department to fix!)
Below it I only had the option to keep my current product, not change it. No great hurry, I'll try again later.

Any chance you could screen capture this for me?

See attached (phone number blanked out)
Edit: just tried again and it worked.

This should now be fixed.

Excellent - I've changed my signature.
Jim: I suggest you simplify the URL in your post - everything from the ? on is superfluous - check the link in my signature.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

I am currently on Plusnet Pro (20GB mth ) getting great speeds 95% of the time and with the free 12to 8am downloading 100GB a month on average overnight (Usenet).Always up to the 20GB limit and watch the amount carefully.
The service is ace when needed so  It seems a no brainer to switch to either the Unlimited with contract at £16.99 or Unlimited without contract at £19.49, guess i am needing a bit of reassurance to jump as i love what i have Smiley

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

I used to be on Pro and moved to Extra with the Pro add-on some time ago. I found a few months back that I didn't actually need the add-on and it's been fine without. I'll be going to Unlimited soon - I'm investigating a couple of things which mean I don't want to throw another viable in to the pot by changing account type immediately.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

I am now on 'unlimited' and it says I can have a fixed IP but the option is not shown in 'add-ons' - have I misunderstood?

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

My unlimited start tomorrow 22nd December as a new billing date as I am going to say goodbye to old product 60GB, then 120GB and now Unlimited but wait.......by the time in 2013......hopefully switch over to Fibre Unlimited - will I allow to change from standard unlimited to fibre unlimited if I still under 12 months contract or must wait until the 12 months contract is complated ?
Roll on tomorrow!  Cheesy Smiley
Re-Edit:
I just notice that today speed had been rocked fast as it matched BT and PN Profile today.
BT IP: 15.7Mb
PN IP:15.7Mb
Speed: 15.7Mb

Look like plusnet had added more central pipes on the network.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

@Richard682e
I assume you are on a Market 1 exchange based on the prices you mentioned with current subscription £22.99. You can compare the new Unlimited with Plusnet Pro side by side using the Usergroup Product Comparison Tool.
As you'll see with Unlimited some protocols, P2P/Usenet in particular, are in a lower priority queue than with Pro but still delivered at line speed all day (and night) if that's all you are doing. The blog mentioned by Oldjim explains well the QoS reason for prioritisation and what it provides.
In my opinion changing to the new product *is* a no-brainer and I suggest taking the contract option unless you expect to migrate from Plusnet within 9 months. After that the cancellation charge (£5.50 per month) is less than you've saved.

Yes you can upgrade - though not provided exactly in this context the FAQ question I’m already part way through an annual/18 month contract, can I still upgrade? covers this situation.

Useful but for BBYW Opt 1, it's taken data from Plus Net www, wrongly showing monthly allowance as 2 not 10gb, which was introduced
last year I recall. No benefit in changing, just the reverse Embarrassed
No LLU's at my exchange or any sign of fibre.
