Re: Peak time latency spikes

You are currently connected to gateway pcl-ag05.
This is located in City Lifeline House.
My whitebox shows the normal big drop in speed at 8pm, strange it happens at same time each evening and picks up again just after 9pm. Speed slowly starts to dropoff at about 7pm,big drop at 8pm then starts to pick up at 9pm then normal from 10pm (all times approx as can vary each evening)
Browsing has been better tonight and speed outside the problem area seem to have  picked up they where a bit slower all week than normal and a disaster on Thursday afternoon.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Definitely spoke too soon. Same POS service this evening:
Average (Mbps)
23:00 27.52
22:00 7.15
21:00 12.81
20:00 48.94
19:00 47.48
18:00 51.89
Thursday was:
Average (Mbps)
23:00 51.69
22:00 13.56
21:00 11.78
20:00 11.69
19:00 28.56
18:00 51.66
Wednesday was:
Average (Mbps)
23:00 51.55
22:00 7.50
21:00 8.29
20:00 16.45
19:00 51.67
18:00 52.05
I am surprised that there doesn't seem to be anyone from Plusnet on the forums this evening though. If Plusnet have a higher priority issue as a company at the moment I can't imagine what it is. I'd have expected to see Plusnet staff crawling over the place until the problem is resolved.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Ive had a good connection all day untill about 8 mins ago Ive suddenly started getting loads of spikes (sat 15:40ish 09.03.2013).
Anyone else noticed this?
lo0-central10.ptw-ag03.plus.net massive high ping on this hope of the trace root.
trace root removed. misleading as it was done before sat 15:40 when the lag kicked in.

But seriously, this week has been frustrating, I can't download essential software updates, nevermind stream any video online.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Last few days results from white box, Something seems to happen each evening around 8pm for a sudden drop in speed, speed seems to start to drop at about 7pm, big drop 8pm and starts to recover at 9pm. The result below where from two different gateways. If it was not for the whitebox I may not have noticed the speed drop is at the same time each evening in the one hour slot unless I was to do constant manual speed tests.
Just checked router logs and seems it reconnected by itself at 2am this morning so see what happens tonight?? current line speed 51.48Mbps from BT wholesale

Re: Peak time latency spikes

2am is around the time BT normally do maintenance so might explain your disconnection. Were you aware of any planned maintenance for your exchange?

Your dowload speed problem is related to your line issue as detailed in your other thread, and best dealt with there.

I think 2am may have been when the DSLM upped my line IP from 50.52 back to 54.48, for some reason it dropped Tuesday evening and has gone backup last night.
