Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

Going back to contracts, you can't take out the fibre broadband option with out the home phone so i assume that since they are paired together the contract would be for both and fixed until the end of the 18 month contract period has finished.
Is that not right ?

no it isn't https://portal.plus.net/fibre-broadband/broadband/
mind you if you take the bundle with free installation you need to stay with Plusnet for the phone for 12 months otherwise you get hit with the installation charge

Now you're going to get told off for fully quoting an immediately preceding post (Forum Rules!), but don't; take it to heart, we all fall into these traps occasionally  Wink

Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

The increase has been noted in the Home Phone FAQ's for some time and was posted here on the 13th September, although the date has now been postponed until the 18th November. If you've already paid the Line Rental Saver upfront, the rental increase won't affect you.
You can move your phone service at anytime by giving 10 days notice, but if you had a free/reduced price Broadband install on condition of keeping the phone service for 12 months then if you leave before then you will be liable for deferred contract charges. In any event just about all providers have put up their prices or are in the process of doing so. Do you really want to move and have to be dealing with a foreign call centre?
So the short answer is you can't cancel your contract without a possible potential penalty.

Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

Is Madasafish line rental going up?
Edit: I have read just PN Home Phone FAQ's , which details the price increase, and  then Madasfish Home Phone FAQs  which does not have details about an increase, so i assume line rental is staying the same.

Mike

Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

That's actually a very good question - I look after an MAAF account for my father-in-law and I haven't heard about any planned increase.

Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

I'm another who hasn't received any emails about this. However I did see that I could renew 3 months early and took advantage of this, could that explain the lack of email? My renewal date is 25 or 26 Dec.

Re: Home Phone price changes - October 2012

You really believe that you'd get good quality of service from the foreign call centres that virtually all the other providers use, I should have a good read about some of the other forums on the net. An in my own experience and IMHO the integrity of Plusnet is superior to virtually all the others. If you believe you can do better elsewhere, then good luck, you'll need it when you have a problem.
PS. Just to clarify, I'm not amused by the price rise either, but all the providers are doing it. You might also like to know that OFCOM is starting a consultation on what steps to take about these sorts of issues with all Mobile and Landline providers. You may care to dig it out and add your own submission.
