Re: Wi-Fi Disconnections and Firewall ICMP Check

Thanks Chris.
Yesterday between 4 and 5 o'clock was the first time we were able to use the internet without constant disconnections and I can see that it was OK then.  I actually thought that the engineer had maybe gone directly to the junction box or the local exchange instead of visiting us and had done something to fix it.  But it was just wishful thinking!

Re: Wi-Fi Disconnections and Firewall ICMP Check

Hi Chris, would you be able to post another graph please?  I am going to have to pay for a mobile broadband connection today as Plusnet is too unstable and unusable now.  It is disconnecting at crucial times, every few minutes, and has already caused damage to the website I was working on.
If there is the slightest chance you can get the engineer to come this morning instead of this afternoon I would be grateful.  I'm annoyed that the first appointment is marked as "the previous appointment was missed" as if it was my fault  and not that the engineer didn't turn up!

Hi,

Unfortunately we wouldn't be able to change the engineer slot that we've booked for you at short notice. I've taken a look at the fault on our suppliers systems and I can see that everything looks to be all booked in and ready for this afternoon.

Re: Wi-Fi Disconnections and Firewall ICMP Check

They've been!  I don't know if it's a coincidence Chris but they rang half an hour after your last post asking if they could come straight away instead of in the afternoon so that was great.
I now know why the first engineer didn't show up.  There was no business name on the documentation only my name and the building address!
I have now been connected to a new 'old' cable that hasn't been used before as we are in a large office block so hopefully it is now fixed.  I'd like to ask for another graph tomorrow though just to see how things have gone.

Brilliant news!
Here's another graph anyhow:

I'll post another tomorrow so we can put them side by side and I'm hoping you'll be able to see the difference Smiley

Re: Wi-Fi Disconnections and Firewall ICMP Check

Thanks Chris.  It lasted an hour before it started going off again.  I take it this means that it is not fixed and it's not just waiting to settle down?  It's just been off again as soon as I started to use it.  What shall I do?  I'm cheesed off now!

I'm just having a chat with one of the faults guys from the Business Support Team to see if we can get this picked up ASAP for you.

Re: Wi-Fi Disconnections and Firewall ICMP Check

Thanks Chris.  Couldn't let you know earlier because it was off but Alison rang from PN and has arranged another engineer for Monday.  She reckons that the noise on the line is only present when the broadband is connected (we just tested the phone only and there was no noise) and that could mean some sort of card needs changing at the exchange?

Re: Wi-Fi Disconnections and Firewall ICMP Check

Yeah that's right, it could be a Line Card issue at the exchange which is why we've gone for that option. Fingers crossed for Monday though.

Strangely, it's been on since 11.38.  I wonder if somebody has been to the exchange?

Re: Wi-Fi Disconnections and Firewall ICMP Check

Hi Chris, any chance of an updated graph please?  I noticed 3 disconnections on Friday afternoon but they were much further apart with about 2 hours in between.
