Re: faulty download speed @ 0.250Mb

When you are reconnected please post the current stats.
How far is it from your current master socket to where the phone is, both in the hall IIRC?

I've updated our faults team with the latest info, I'll take a look at your stats when you post them up again too.

Re: faulty download speed @ 0.250Mb

Ok, I've noticed that the Attenuation figures keep going up and down like a yoyo, can you hear any noise on the phone at the moment?
If and notice I said if, BT were to fit a new NTE5a Master Socket could it be sited near your phone, so that you wouldn't have to use an extension lead, or alternatively near where you filter for your modem/router is? Bearing in mind that the cable run would have to be easy for the BT engineer from the white connector box by the front door.
I take it you prefer to have your phone in the Hall?
I'll also send you a PM.

Re: faulty download speed @ 0.250Mb

I could on a temporary basis move the router to the master socket an get myself a wireless connection for my pc an disconnect the main phone( which is not used much more calls on mobiles nowadays)  an extensions just to try that out for a while but  im on 12 hour shifts the next 3 days so i might not get it set up till thursday or friday wat u think Smiley Huh

Re: faulty download speed @ 0.250Mb

OK, if you want to try that, a good idea, but do this -
Don't forget the Disconnect method -
Plug the filter straight into the Master socket with no cables or extensions plugged into the master socket. Plug your modem/router into the filter. You can plug your phone extension lead into the filter, there's no problem with that as long as it's not in the master socket itself.
When you've done that post up some stats.

Re: faulty download speed @ 0.250Mb

You need Plusnet to confirm whether that speed is below the Fault threshold,. if it is there should be no issue. That said, for the up time of those stats that Noise Margin is a bit of a surprise would have expected it to be so low compared to the others you've posted. There has been considerable variability in your noise margin over the stats you've posted, so I'd be surprised if there isn't a fault.
But never the less that speed is considerably below the range of estimated speeds for your line.
So hopefully the engineer will not only fit an NTE5a Master socket for you, but find and fix a fault. You just need to decide where you want the Master socket so you can cut out the use of extension leads. Fitting a hard wired socket for your modem/router would be the sensible option.
Post up some more stats as soon as you can, I'd like to see what they are after the modem/router has been running a bit.

Re: faulty download speed @ 0.250Mb

Hi there,
the thing I missed last last was that with this set of stats, the attenuation is lower again than it has been with any of the previous stats including those at the master socket and the mode has changed to ADSL2 instead of ADSL2+. There has to be a fault somewhere, and the speed is well below what it ought to be, especially with that 4.0dB SN Margin Down. Surprisingly though, the CRC errors are very low!!
Whether this is a bad connection on your line, or a hardware issue at the exchange or the modem/router is difficult to conclude.
You need to ensure the modem/router is in the master socket like this when the engineer comes.
I assume you will be able to be there when the engineer does come?

I force ADSL2 on my connection for the very reason it has a lower attenuation and generally syncs 100kbps higher Roll_eyes - but ADSL2 rarely uses tones above 160 on my line, so the extra tones of ADSL2+ have no benefit but still contribute to the aggregate attenuation (61.8dB)  Shocked

We know that, but for conditions to keep changing like that on a line it indicates a fault.
