chose not to take free fibre router. do I need the modem?

Hey guys,
Joined up for fibre and the engineer is coming next week. However, I chose not to go with the free router as I need gigabit Ethernet ports. Does my new router go right into the openreach socket, (and therefore needs to contain a fibre modem) or Will I still get the little modem that goes before a normal dsl router/switch?
Cheers

The engineer will bring the modem with them.

You need either the modem + a router with a wan Ethernet port that supports ppoe OR a router that supports VDSL.
E.g. I can use my Netgear N300 to connect but need the modem.
