so that is saying that it can't get an IP address from the router.
do you have any firewalls on your computer?
if you do a right click on it and select repair on #6 network connections does this get a different IP address?

It says that windows could not finish repairing because it complete renewing the IP address

right click again and this time choose properties, in the new box that pops up find 'Internet Protocol' in the white window and click this and then properties.

I've clicked on it and got info up and there is no information entered on any of the boxes.Is that the kind of info you wanted?

Yeah that sounds about right, so it says Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS servers automatically.
Do you have any firewalls running, ZoneAlarm etc?

Just to confirm - in the settings box, for your ethernet adapter, are the boxes ticked saying get IP address automatically, and get dns server automatically?
Can you open a command prompt again, type "ipconfig /all" (without the quotes), and paste the results back here
(to copy the information from the screen, right click the little c:\ icon in the top left of the window border, select edit>mark, then drag to select the text you want to copy. Then click the icon again, and select edit>copy - then you can paste back in to the forum.)
