Re: Web mail

OK, after some investigation it seems IMAP will do what I want.
But a question - my incoming POP3 server is listed as mail.force9.net in my connection settings. There is no mention of an IMAP server - what should I use?
Do I use the same outgoing SMPT server?
Thanks for any clues!

Re: Web mail

imap.force9.net (I assume it's this - I use imap.plus.net)
Same outgoing server
Edit: The outgoing server is given in the member centre connection settings / connection details - imap is not. I've just submitted a PUGIT item for this omission.

Will IMAP allow me to delete SPAM mail from the server, and move any I do want to my normal email box on the server so I can download using POP3 on my machine?

Yes, as long as you only move required emails it to your inbox folder.

Re: Web mail

I've raised a task to have our content guys look at adding this. The details can be found elsewhere on other support pages in the meantime.

Re: Web mail

Thanks Bob, I'd gone off to get the URL to point avisoft in the right direction and then realised it wasn't there!

Re: Web mail

Thanks Colin that's a good one to remember.
Perhaps rather than adding IMAP to the page in Connection settings, POP3 should be removed and a prominent link to the page you gave put in place instead. Also I'm not sure about the page just showing the POP3 login name for the default mailbox only!

Re: Web mail

I agree with jelv. Seems silly to have a list of servers in TWO places ... particularly when one is incomplete! Should be in one place, readily referenced, and correct! After I had found my (incomplete) list in member centre, I stopped looking!

If I really cannot access the SPAM folder using POP3, then I cannot access it on my normal machine (it is running RISC OS and I do not have an IMAP client). Bummer.

Messenger Pro 5 from RComp or even Marcel from the Ant suite?
