I'm using news.plus.net - but they are all the same server!
Why it's started working for you I can't imagine!
C:\Documents and Settings\John>nslookup plusnet.vsrv-ams.supernews.net
Server: localhost

I had a muck about with the ports went back to default 119 and its working I had it at a different one.
The thing is I was only on the same setting a few days ago and it worked then. Anyway it works now using
news account: usenet.f9.net.uk
server: usenet.f9.net.uk
Port: 119
also
news account: usenet.f9.net.uk
server: plusnet.vsrv-ams.supernews.net
Port: 119
I`ve no idea why it used to work on the other port
setting but now not. I think it was 443
