Hi all, i am not going to say that PN is a bad supplier of broadband, but cut me down to 4 Mb's on christmas day ( a customer who is only the internet maybe 2-3 hours (a week) and have been for the last two years, is unforgiveable, to say thay can't do this, is deceiving one's self, call it Traffic Manangement, Band restriction, Its called Throttling according to Google, many thanks to those who gave me good advice Goodbye

I see gouranger has now left PN for BT: https://community.plus.net/t5/Broadband/Moved-to-BT/m-p/2034178#M374158
Let's hope his speed is OK now and indeed what it finally is!
A very confusing thread, which we were never able to get to the bottom of. His final post here seeming to me to indicate he was on ADSL - "VDSL A and B unavailable" along with a "guaranteed speed is a very poor 5Mbps" + "70 meters from the cabinet" - but how could this be with a then claimed speed of 30Mbps along with "SOGEA available"?

Please, if possible, do let us know what your speed now is!

As the OP has now left PN it seems unlikely he will look at this (Throttled) thread again, whereas he may just have looked at the later one (Moved to BT).

Sadly a thread filled with more rant than facts. The hints given suggested that the user was probably still on an ADSL service and the higher speeds from other suppliers were SoGEA.
FTTC down at 4mbps (if that really is what it was) suggests a long distance to the cabinet or a service fault. The user did not come across as overly tech savvy so one wonders where they got the 4mbps figure from? Could they have used something on their TV which might have reported mBps?
Guess we will never know.
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links

I have come across a similar situation where the problem was extension wiring that needed filtering from the incoming connection.
But if posters have fixed theories in their heads and refuse to engage………
