Static IP not working

I've had a static IP address for many years. However I moved house last year, and it appears that my static IP must have stopped working in the switch over (I haven't needed it until now, only to discover it's gone). It's enabled in my account, but the address doesn't respond to a ping and I am being allocated a random address by DHCP.

Anyone able to help, please? No burning hurry, hence this post rather than a call to support.

Re: Static IP not working

@swandodger

For plusnet and probably other service providers the public IP Address does not respond to a ping unless the router attached has ICMP echo enabled or there is a device connected to the DMZ .

Hopefully someone from plusnet can sort this out for you soon.

Thanks @Dan_the_Van I'd forgotten that. Old age has that effect 😞
