Re: Speed through the floor.

Do the stats BEFORE the filter swap, want to compare with identical set up and sync exactly as today. Then don't forget to power down and wait a few minutes before unplugging the filter/line.

With the Netgear filter and the router either unplugged or turned off,  caller id works fine.  Turn the router on and caller id doesn't work.  With the BT filter caller id works in all situations.
It looks like my connection is pretty stable from tests run so far. I guess I could leave routerstats running overnight if you think that may be any use?
Guy.

Re:Speed through the floor.

Doesn't look like there's anything I can add here. Just popping this in to let you know we're here in case anything does need picking up.

Re: Speed through the floor.

Hi Guy, well looks like those Netgear filters are **** as far as caller id goes!! Leave router stats running if you're about, otherwise I wouldn't worry, everything looks good.
If all is still OK tomorrow perhaps Matt can arrange the reduction in Target SNRM to 6dB?
Cheers for now.

Re: Speed through the floor.

The Netgear filter is also giving a slight drop in sync speed and a slight drop in noise margin - two reasons to bin it!

Re: Speed through the floor.

Keep an eye on https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate - the current line speed should come up to the same as your IP Profile within 12 hours. If it doesn't you need to ring in or raise a ticket (unless James sees it earlier).

Re: Speed through the floor.

errrmm...should my speeds now be back up in the stratosphere?  There has been and improvement, but only to a download speed of 229kbps.  A tad disappointing, but am I being too impatient.?

Re: Speed through the floor.

Try a disconnect/reconnect (PPP session only if you can do a reconnect through the router interface).

Re: Speed through the floor.

aah - if I go to connection status  in the router interface, there's two buttons for connect and disconnect. I guess thats it - sorry to be so dim.

Re: Speed through the floor.

YOU BEAUTIES......download speed 4048kbps.  Grin
Thanks to all who have chipped in along the way at this traumatic time :).  Trouble is, now I know you're here I'll be pestering you for every iota of speed I can get.
Cheers, Guy.
ps - as an aside, I pointed the person (Riyaz) who replied to my original ticket raised last tuesday , in the direction of this thread, when I received a response on Sunday. I hope you have said you guys were dealing, and this is why I haven't  heard anything on the ticket since? If so it may be an idea, for Riyaz to mention that in some way on the ticket, so it doesn't seem that c/s are providing a poor service and the only place you're going to get help in good time is on the forum!
