I've just been checking all the non-Openreach FTTP providers (known as AltNets) in your area to see who is actively building their full fibre networks. Sadly none are currently building in your village, but Wessex Internet is digging up the roads for FTTP in the next village of 'Curry Rivel', and Gigaclear has planned FTTP works due to start in 'Langport' and 'Curry Rivel', both around three miles away from you.
Can I suggest that you and your neighbours register your interest in having FTTP broadband from these companies.
Having a bunch of people register in the same postcode might encourage them build in your area.
To sign-up and register your interest, these are the websites -
On each, enter your postcode, select your exact address from the drop-down list of properties, and then you will end up on a page to register your interest and leave them your contact email address etc.
These are the relevant coverage maps near you, the purple dots indicating existing FTTP installations -

From experience, it can take years for an altnet to build a network extension even a few miles.
Perhaps a better solution is Three 4G broadband - there appears to be good 4G coverage in that area (no 5G though), and on a 24 month contract it costs £11pm until Jan 27 then £22pm until April 27, after that it is £25.50. That is probably cheaper than Plusnet ADSL, even allowing for a VoiP provider to keep the same landline number.

How long do you intend doing that ? as your phone number WILL DISAPPEAR sometime probably before Christmas unless you 'port' the number to a digital phone (VoIP) provider - but don't transfer it until you have better working broadband and your email is migrated elsewhere.

That is quite possible, as Openreach sent you a phone engineer who would only have been interested in fixing the line between your master socket and the telephone exchange. Phone engineers rarely check for broadband problems, and most ADSL problems are caused within the home, your side of the master socket, and not their responsibility.
Do you have any phone sockets in your house other than the main BT 'master' socket ?

So you will be paying Plusnet more than £40 a month, plus £17 a month for a mobile SIM, how is this cheaper than Starlink ?

@ExForce9, has asked you how it went with the computer man on Wednesday. You have not responded, unless you did in a PM to them.
Could we have an update of what the computer man advised/said to you.
