Re: Slow speeds

Great, thanks for letting us know. If they resolve an issue with the phone line then we shouldn't have a problem getting the broadband working tip top again. Smiley

Re: Slow speeds

Hi, just an update on my internet. BT came around but apparently didn't find a problem with the line, (I wasn't around when they came). The line isn't crackling on the phone anymore, and our internet is back up to speed like normal. Either just needed me to stop testing the router/microfilters etc and let it chill or something I dont know. But it's all good now, thanks for helping though.

Re: Slow speeds

Hi Phil,
We could probably get it a bit faster. Your SNR is 15dB, probably following the fault. If I set this to 6dB you'd probably get a higher speed. It would start a new 10 day training period though. Would you like me to do it?

Re: Slow speeds

Hi,
what happens/do i have to do during this 10 day training period? and how much faster will this make my speed? At the moment i'm happy with the speed i have and am capable of getting, but if it's not too much trouble i might be interested in this.

Re: Slow speeds

Post your current modem/router ASSL line stats so we can see what it's doing.

Re: Slow speeds

What sort of errors are you seeing, we're looking for things like Super Frame (CRC) errors, HEC, ES & SES errors. Can you see those on your stats page(s)? Also the Uptime (line). If you can post those with Line stats that gives a much more complete picture.
You really should be able to sync at 8128 if the line is stable so interleaving can be turned off, the later giving much better latency if you are a gamer, so yes worth trying an SNR reset if the error rate isn't high.

Re: Slow speeds

I can't find errors on my router page. It doesn't have many more stats other than the one's i posted. Well I can't find the stats you're asking for. hmm

What make and model of modem/router is it? Give as full a detail as possible.

Re: Slow speeds

I'm using a Belkin F5D8631-4. Wired ethernet connection. Don't really know what else to say. Firmware all up to date etc.

Re: Slow speeds

I can't find any way of getting Error stats from that modem/router at all. If things seem stable now you could ask for the SNR reset Jojo offered.

Re: Slow speeds

Hi phlim
Just tried looking at your line and as you're out of sync there's not much I can do at the moment. Let us know when you're connected again and I'll take a look.

Re: Slow speeds

Hello, our phone was still crackling for a while, so we got BT out again and they replaced the wire on the outside of our house to the phoneline. But I've been having some horrible disconnects tonight. When I have time, I'll be plugged straight into the socket with my laptop hopefully on Friday. Sad

Re: Slow speeds

Yes,  we'd definitely agree that the connection is dropping again:

I'm assuming you mean the master socket or the test socket (latter being preferable if there is one)
Let us know when you are so we can test the line again.

Re: Slow speeds

                                      Downstream  Upstream
Data Rate(Kbps)           6080                448
Noise margin (dB) 14.0                24.0
Output power (dBm)    11.9                19.7
Attenuation (dB)           19.0                11.0
Those are my stats. I'm currently connected into the main socket the speeds are pretty dire (same as before)
Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.09 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.25 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :6.08 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.14 Mbps
We replaced a cable which i believe should have stopped all the constant disconnections (some old wire). And since then we have had these slow speeds. I'm guessing I should just leave it be for a couple/3days and see if it sorts itself out like last time?
