Re: Slow speed

I didn't think there was an option button on beers either  Grin
Anyway,  try and answer the questions tonight, but if you've had a few beers, we'll leave anything else until the morning  Wink
Has the modem/router been off, and switched on around 7.45 pm.?
I see BT has some wonderful wiring (not) at that first incoming connection box  Roll_eyes not that it's going to make any difference, and you have one fixed extension socket, do you know if the bell wire had been dealt with?
(I'm hoping Chris Pettitt can post the latest Session Connection chart as well).

Re: Slow speed

Thanks Chris, that actually answers the question about whether it was switched off until around 7.45pm. - it wasn't, but looking at the stats I'm wondering if it could have been a mains drop rather than a connection drop.
BooYar, are you vulnerable to mains drops where you are?
Otherwise I think we'll try and check out connections and the bell wire issue tomorrow as I suspect the score at the moment is Router 1, Beer - quite a few more.

Re: Slow speed

The connection is still looking a little unstable unfortunately which is why I haven't made any changes to the connection until we get this a lot more steady. Can you just doubly make sure that the router has had alternative microfilters? The SNR on the line is relatively high which is coming from somewhere, which is what we need to establish. If we put an SNR Reset through the problem is, if there is a fault we need to investigate, it would be a further 10 days before we can do anything due to the 10 day training period.

Re: Slow speed

The high SNRM is as a result of the banding.

Re: Slow speed

ok i have been sent a mail by Chris advising me to :-
Regarding the Fault on your line, I would strongly advise for you to raise a Fault due to the issues that you are having with your line. I think it is important that our Faults Team take a look and investigate and we can then get the issue resolved for you.
I will raise a fault later or tomorrow as im off to a party!!
Thanks for all you help and advise Anotherone i hope this gets sorted soon o7

Re: Slow speed

You still need to check your internal wiring as you are using an extension socket. Post when you get back if you've not had too many beers and I'll tell you what to look at.
Can you also post your latest stats.
You should have a test socket as the second photo (IMAG0175) is showing a BT Master NTE5 Socket.
I also refer you back to the first paragraph of my reply #16.
I still think you should be de-Banded as the error rate is so low and there has only been one disconnection in over 24 hours, in fact since last Monday. Your remarks in reply #4 are especially pertinent to what has happened to your line.
But, Your priority has to be checking and tidying up your internal stuff first as in the first instance you will be told by faults to connect to the Test socket, so we might as well get that checked out now.
Who do you pay your telephone line rental to? (not your broadband).

Re: Slow speed

My apologies, I had thought that the Internal Wiring had been checked. Once we have gone through the checks to ensure it is not your internal wiring causing these issues, we can then go ahead and raise a fault and get the banding removed as Anotherone states Smiley

Re: Slow speed

Hi there BooYar,
I'm afraid a "cable that is long enough to reach modem to test socket" is not the way to go. When/if it comes to it, the filter must be plugged directly into the test socket and the mode/router into the filter with it's own short lead. Long leads will pick up interference and negate the testing.
But we may not need to go that far.
The stats you've posted are good, you've had a solid connection there for 28hrs as far as I can tell, but to be sure were those stats before you looked for the test socket?
Please remember when doing anything where you may lose sync or need to disconnect/swap follow this procedure -
Login to the modem/router interface and click on the "Disconnect" button - this terminates the "ppp" session to the ISP (not sync to the exchange).  Wait a good minute after the button changes to "Connect" (refresh the page to be sure).
Then power down the modem/router. Wait a good minute before unplugging the modem/router or it's filter from the line. Then swap whatever needs to be swapped.
Wait another 10 minutes before powering up again.
