Re: Slow speed (IP profile 135K, but modem sync is 2-3Mbps)

Since the PN supplied router (Thomson) obviously wasn't the problem I've re-installed it in place of the Netgear. I'll keep an eye on it and raise a line fault with Orange/BTW if needed.

Hi gingerbloke
I've just lifted your profile to 3500 so you should see the increase in the next 15 minutes.

Don't forget the difference between Kbps and KBps Smiley

Re: Slow speed (IP profile 135K, but modem sync is 2-3Mbps)

KB is Kbytes in this case, Steam was reporting 360KB/s whilst updating. I just fired up uTorrent and was getting 370KB/s
If it stays like this I'll be as happy as a ginger person has any right to feel  Grin

Re: Slow speed (IP profile 135K, but modem sync is 2-3Mbps)

But that's consistent with the IP Profile of 1000kbps you now have. The implication is that in the hour before your test at 08:28 this morning you had a sync in the range 1152-1408kbps, but the DLM had not caught up.

Re: Slow speed (IP profile 135K, but modem sync is 2-3Mbps)

This recent windy weather has resulted in audible interference on the phone, and even loss of dialtone. Frankly, I'm amazed that the broadband link is working at all.
I'll chase the fault as a line fault with my current Phone provider (Orange) and see where I get to.
Still running at a usable 170KB/s this morning, so far better than the 0.3mbps I was suffering a while back.

Re: Slow speed (IP profile 135K, but modem sync is 2-3Mbps)

Thanks for the update Adam,
I've given your line the once over.  We can see that the connection is dropping out and the line speed is fluctuating wildly which is why the IP profile has also been fluctuating.  See the last 7 days below:

Whilst there is a telephone fault open against your circuit we cannot investigate a broadband issue.  Please let us know the outcome of your open telephone problem with Orange and let us know if you need us to investigate further.

Re: Slow speed (IP profile 135K, but modem sync is 2-3Mbps)

Alex - I have posted an update on fault #45398714
In short, the BT guys have been and worked on the above-ground sections of the line. The line sounds clear and the modem has sync'd at 3232K, but I'm currently stuck on 135K IP Profile.
Can you ask for a retrain on the line or are we stuck with a 72 hour wait until we know if they've fixed the fault?

Re: Slow speed (IP profile 135K, but modem sync is 2-3Mbps)

Hi there,
It's definitely better to wait and confirm the line is stable, you might accelerate the profile uplift by resyncing once a day around lunchtime (if you disconnect via the router's interface before powering off and on again it won't be seen as a forced disconnect by the exchange) though if it hasn't uplifted within a couple of days then we'll definitely reset the SNR for you.
Hope that helps,
