@dan, seems there is major issues tonight speeds are dire , seems it's back to being Peek time cack time again and worse than before  Sad

Re: Shocked slow as snail on my fibre

i have bad packet loss for the first time as seen on my TBB graph and ping test to BBC.co.uk
Ping statistics for 212.58.246.103:
   Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 96, Lost = 4 (4% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
   Minimum = 17ms, Maximum = 25ms, Average = 18ms
I sure hope this isn't a sign of things getting worse, it's kind of getting beyond a joke now, BTW cant say nothing is wrong with results like this. and i'm to believe i'm the only one on my exchange / cab with this problem

Re: Shocked slow as snail on my fibre

Which gateway are you on?
Try disconnecting/reconnecting and run the ping test again.

Re: Shocked slow as snail on my fibre

@Andy H I was on  pcl-ag06 Did a hop to  pcl-ag04
pings are fine in fact much lower also no packet loss
Ping statistics for 212.58.246.104:
    Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 100, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 13ms, Maximum = 17ms, Average = 14ms
Speed tests back to normal as well Not sure if it was due to the Gateway hop or because around this time Peek time issues start to go back to normal for me, could be a bit of both i don't know,

Re: Shocked slow as snail on my fibre

I think there are one or two dodgy links between the BRAS' and PN's network. A disconnect/reconnect should put you on a different path and hopefully fix the issue.
Worth keeping an eye on though.

Re: Shocked slow as snail on my fibre

#Dan. Hope you had a good holiday.
As you may of seen from ticket #81892611 & this thread things haven't been going too well ending with a massive speed drop at the weekend & further more on Monday.
Anyway, regarding the latter after trying many things like rebooting the router & connecting direct to the O/R modem all to no avail I tried one last thing.
I run speedtest from some of my other devices, ie an iPad & a mobile smartphone both via wireless.Lo & behold they gave near normal speeds (remember my BT profile is still 58 instead of the original 73-74)  given they were on wireless.
My desktop on Ethernet was still only giving single figures though. I uninstalled the Ethernet adapter via device manager & re-installed it, believe it or not my speed come back up on my desktop!
However that is not the end of it, on turning on my desktop today the same thing happened again. To try & eliminate everything I re-installed the Ethernet drivers, changed Ethernet cables & finally re-connected my HH5 in router mode only whilst still using the O/R modem.
The problem still seems to be there though.
Not sure what is going on here.

Do you still get a high first ping on any address?

Not once the Ethernet adaptor has been re-installed, no.

Re: Shocked slow as snail on my fibre

@buseng12  it could well be a faulty Ethernet port on your desktop do you have anything you could test with laptop, PVR, Smart TV etc . anything with a ethernet port.

Re: Shocked slow as snail on my fibre

Gets unbelievable. It's not just the Ethernet adapter.
I disabled the Ethernet adapter & plugged in a wireless dongle. Exactly the same thing happens, after a reboot the connection speed drops to low single figures & like the Ethernet adapter I have to uninstall & re-install the wireless adapter as well & then the speeds come somewhere near normal. Something is "spooking" my network connections whichever adapter I use & they all need re-installing before they use full speed.
Any clues please?  It all started last Saturday.

Re: Shocked slow as snail on my fibre

Can you check your Event Viewer log? Or recently installed updates?
Have you tried any anti-malware software to see if anything is causing problems?

@buseng have you tried a System roll back to before last Saturday maybe something installed, malware , virus anything really messed something up, worth a shot that or a full system wipe and install something isn't right for that to be happening

Thanks for the suggestions.
Can't see much in the event viewer log, also no updates have been installed recently.
I am now running McAfee full scan.

Re: Shocked slow as snail on my fibre

# Ian/Dan, I have just updated my ticket #81892611 with a bit more info.
Namely the network adapter problem also happens when you change the Ethernet cable from one device to another even without a reboot. Just happened again when I swapped from the HH5 to the P/N router.

Re: Shocked slow as snail on my fibre

Is the PC connected to the LAN at 100 or 1000Mb when the problem occurs?
Is there nothing at all in the event log to suggest what is happening?
