Re: No improvement on download speed

Normally it's automatic I thought but this is the list of the different mode that your router support
ADSL Port Compliant with:
ANSI T1.413 Issue2
ITU-T G.992.1 G.dmt (ADSL)
ITU-T G.992.2 G.lite
ITU-T G.992.3 ADSL2
ITU-T G.992.5 ADSL2+
Annex L (READSL)
Annex M

Re: No improvement on download speed

I chnged the modulation but it made no difference in speed whatsoever:

Re: No improvement on download speed

You could try ADSL2+ (currently ADSL2 is selected) but it probably will not improve matters. With a downstream attenuation you should be getting 6 to 10Mbps. From your stats I believe that your SNRM has been set to 12dB so if this can be brought down to 6dB it should add nearly 2Mbps to you speed.
Have you checked your internal wiring and removed the ring wire?

Re: No improvement on download speed

try pluging your router into the test socket on your master. post the same stats again so we can see what you get when your internal wiring is taken out of the picture.

Re: No improvement on download speed

Mmm....I was cutover to the ADSL2+ trial 4 days ago (at least that's what i think, based on a doubling of the upstream sync speed). Downstream was syncing at around 4000 kps. This has gradually reduced to pretty much what i was getting with standard ADSL (if not less):

So as it stands, ADSL2+ has given me a great upstream rate but no benefit on downstream. Have checked for a BT master socket, but we're in a new build property and the units used dont' seem to have a test socket.
The DGN2000 router doesn't seem to have a way of showing or editing the modulation setting
Are the above stats typical for ADSL2+?
Cheers!

Re: No improvement on download speed

If you are in a new build there will definitely be a master socket somewhere!

Re: No improvement on download speed

I do not have a master socket of type you have on your PIC, I have the one with external faceplate being split into BT phone and RJ11 socket - with built in microfilter.
I tried plugging in the router directly into the socket behind faceplace - no change whatsoever.
Interestingly, the Vigor is autodetecting the line as ADSL2 and not ADSL2+.

Re: No improvement on download speed

@bijelic  if your lines to long for frequinces to be used above 1100khz then the msan's force a adsl2 sync.
as for noise margin increase i had the same happen on my line. normal adsl it ran at 12db snr target on fastpath on a 51db attention line
now on adsl2 it's runing at 15db  Angry

Re: No improvement on download speed

The first 10 days after migration to 21CN are meant to be a training period while the exchange kit learns the best way to handle your line. You need to let it get on with the job during this time.
The 21CN DLM is much more responsive than that on maxDSL and it can reduce target noise margin within a few days where it feels this is possible - so having it increase is not necessarily the problem it was on the old system.

Re: No improvement on download speed

@spraxyt - thanks for the info, that's useful. I'll leave it a few more days before querying anything with PN, then.
Cheers.

Re: No improvement on download speed

Arghh...my speed has now DROPPED!!!!!!!!! Angry
Here are results from before and after conenction to 21CN:
D/L:        U/L:    Date:          Time:
3175 373 04/04/2009 08:49
3208 374 13/04/2009 10:25
3176 711 14/04/2009 15:18
4547 722 14/04/2009 16:05
4531 714 14/04/2009 16:14
3369 719 16/04/2009 16:28
3368 741 16/04/2009 18:43
3180 719 17/04/2009 15:14
2724 740 19/04/2009 08:35
2718 741 20/04/2009 07:43
The download speed improved for only two days before being pegged back to same as ADSL Max but for the last couple days has fallen below the ADSL Max speed.
Does anyone have any ideas what to do?
