The thing is now I confused as just after I posted my last comment my whole phone line went dead for 15 minutes. So I check the site Sam Know and imput my phone number and this is what it says
Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.
However, there is another service on your phone line (e.g. ADSL, LLU, DACS, etc) that would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection.
Does this mean that my line has been activated 4 days early? I did try plugging the router into the phone line but could not get a net connection.
Keith.

Assuming that the DSL light on your router is green and the Internet light is red you need to call PlusNet to advise that your line has been activated early and they can do the necessary at their end

Once your Broadband is working (and assuming you're using Windows) you'll need to go into Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options and select the connections tab. Make sure that "Never Dial a Connection" is selected.
Also go to Control Panel > Network Connections (assuming Xp) and make sure that your dial-up is deselected as the default connection (right click on the connection and un-check default).

As for dial-up "undefaulting" you need to go to Control Panel > View Network Status and Tasks > Manage Network Connections and then right click on your dial-up connection.
