Hi,
I'm looking for advice on adding extra ports to a router, I need at minimum of two more ports to run our security DVR and smart TV. What is the best/most efficient way of adding more ports?
I started with Plusnet fibre on 31st March.
Tia,
Gerald

Would a simple 5 or 8 port network switch fit the bill ?
Easy plug and play & shouldn't break the bank ( £5 -> £20max

Thanks,
The original O2 router had a phone type input and four outputs, the technicolour router has only four sockets and one is used by the BT unit, leaving only three spare sockets. I didn't want to get the wrong thing and waste money.
Gerald

You just need an Ethernet switch.
I use Netgear GS105/GS108s because they're well built and reliable. The 5 port GS105 is only about £20

If you don't need internal transfers at Gigabit speeds 100mbps switches can be bought new for under £10.

Plenty of other suppliers but here's a nice sample of ethernet switches starting at less than £5 (+delivery):
