Been a very happy customer for a fair few years now and I feel I owe it to @Gandalf who got me sorted with FTTC when it seemed like no-one else (or no other provider) could!
So, I'm moving home soon and it's a little more rural - a postcode with three properties. I've been using various resources to ascertain the infrastructure position in the new house to varying results....FTTP is coming within a year according to Openreach, FTTC is there according to some providers but with estimated speeds from 2-5mb only from most, including Plusnet....I don't necessarily need more than 36 but 2-5 is no good either! That's hardly FTTC! 😆 One provider has guaranteed a minimum of 14 which is a thinker, otherwise it might have to be EE mobile broadband in the short term until FTTP is ready.
How can I confirm more exactly where the speed is going to land? I really want to stay with Plusnet for good.
Fixed! Go to the fix.

After hiding your details post an image of the results from the following. Include the narrative below the results window.
Input the post code and select the address from the drop down window. You can also use it to check neighbouring properties.

@Logan72 That BTw screenshot is terrible, speed-wise. Is the house in a really inaccessible wild area, miles away from civilisation?

Ha - cheers, you would think so wouldn't you! 😉 Honestly - no, it's not that bad remote-wise, there's another dozen or so houses down the same lane, but it is a private road. It's less than half a mile off an A road. I would say it's unique - and the house - a man 99 years of age lived in it until recently and I don't think the wires and FTTC element has ever been tested.

Ah, a private road, and I'm guessing it is underground fed and the owner has refused Openreach to do any digging? Could you ask the other residents what services they have, from whom, and their speeds?

Thanks for the information. It confirms the Digital equivalent of FTTC (SOGEA) is available - had it been ADSL then PN don't offer the digital version.
As you already know, it shows speeds of between 2.5 and 5. Any ISP who uses the OR network is stuck with this so how one can offer 14 down I don't know.
You options are very limited. You could stay with PN and supplement your speed with a mobile internet connection - costly in the short term. Or you could give up on PN and just go mobile until FF arrives.
Is the property served by an overhead on underground connection? Also, I assume you know you'll lose the landline and, if you leave PN, any email address unless it's already been migrated to Greenby.
The ironic thing is the property is connected to a Fibre Priority Exchange!!!

Heya,
Genuinely, thanks for the tag @Logan72, it’s nice to hear from those I have helped and I’ve just read back on the conversation many years ago to refresh my memory!
Although this seems like an issue that I don’t think I can help with, good luck and let me know how it goes and if there is anything I can help with. ![]()

Thanks so much @bmc! This is very helpful and confirmed what my options are. I really don't know whether it's overhead or underground. I feel like it might be overhead but I need to confirm.
Although the current owners have never actually lived there (and I've been once so far) there is a redundant bt router next to a standard bt socket in the kitchen and I think there's a mobile bb router in the attic (it's a bungalow) and I think the current owner said it's very good.
Looks like that will be the way forward in the short term and I'll see if OR do the full fibre soon.
Thank very much again.

Happy to be of help.
I asked about the current feed as the fibre optic cable will follow the same route. If it's overhead then there should be no problem. If it's underground it'll depend on the ducts. If they are good (up the road mainly) then no digging should be required.
Unfortunately if u/g you'll not know until they try to install.

Does anyone know exactly how my cancellation with plusnet will roll?
I'm in contract until August but may move house in May?
