Re: Migration Pathway

The same also go from... or SoGEA to FTTP

Surely, that's wrong, plenty of people have migrated from FTTC to FTTP so why would SoGEA be any different ?

FTTP requires a new installation, totally separate from any existing copper based service. So the normal process is that the existing service is ceased once the FTTP install is complete.

That's not SoGEA 40/10 to 80/20 as that for telephone line with FTTC 40/10 to 80/20 to FTTP only

Re: Migration Pathway

This is really a confusing thread caused by multiple use of different terms, in some posts any references to copper line speed is just spurious information.

For any transfer into plusnet from another provider the offering would be; using plusnet product names

Fibre - SoGEA copper cable, no landline phone (part Fibre technology)

or

Full Fibre - Fibre cable, no landline phone (Full Fibre technology)

Again using plusnet product name Unlimited Fibre (40/10) and Unlimited Fibre Extra (80/20) both including a landline phone.

Since Wholesale Line Rental was removed FTTC (broadband with landline phone) is no longer available, it should no longer be referred to.

It's been said before, if you want to move to plusnet then place an order for a new line and then cancel your current service.

Re: Migration Pathway

What the point of order new line because the line already live on Sogfast as openreach will rejected the new line order because they will know Sogfast is on the line?

You can't order new line and cancel the Sogfast as it doesn't make any sense at all.

Re: Migration Pathway

By 'new line' I mean a second copper cable run to your property. You may not like it but is seems to be a pragmatic approach to resolving your issue.

Re: Migration Pathway

I don't want second line. I think I have to raise this to higher level openreach and complaining of why it won't accepted Sogfast to Sogea in migration pathway as it pretty ridiculously if openreach say no

The cost of installing a new line with Plusnet is £49.99 - no thanks Openreach!

Re: Migration Pathway

@goldenfibre

If you order a new line it's unlikely you'd get a second cable installed. OR would use a second "pair" of wires in the existing incoming cable.

Re: Migration Pathway

Maybe you need to say you are transferring providers who only supply SoGEA.

I'm off now

Re: Migration Pathway

What am I missing here?

There is …

A green cabinet served by fibre
A copper circuit to the property
ISP A supplying service X

User wants service Y from ISP B.
Service Y is reported as being available by the infrastructure owner.

Why can B not order Y on the circuit delivering X from B (thereby terminating that service) as would happen if X were ADSL and Y is SoGEA?

What’s the issue with ceasing X thereby creating a silver key line to be picked up by B for service Y?
@MatthewWheeler - are you able to shine light into this dark corner please?

Re: Migration Pathway

Here is Screenshot

I don't get it at all.

Why can't Openreach disconnected Sogfast from PCP8 and reconnect SoGEA on the FTTC cabinet on the same day of migration switch? @Gandalf @MatthewWheeler

@Townman  A typo?  I think it should be  ..."Why can B not order Y on the circuit delivering X from A (thereby terminating that service)

Re: Migration Pathway

Hi @goldenfibre

If you can drop me a PM with the address in question I can double check but unfortunately having had a look on our supplier's systems I can't see a option to do so

After the 3rd of November I will have a limited presence here as I have moved to a new role

Re: Migration Pathway

Does that infer what is already on a line (X) can restrict ordering a service (Y) reported to be at the address?
