Line Speed // IP Profile

First some test results:
Download speed achieved during the test was - 437 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-500 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 500 Kbps
I have read the sticky topics regarding line speed and IP profiles and found them very informative. Smiley What I'd like to ask is if there's anyway I can see when the instability that apparently caused the speed cap of 500kbps happened? The issues started last night out of the blue, one minute everything was fine, and then everything took an absolute age to load. At first I thought someone might be nicking my bandwidth (I live in an apartment complex, about 30 different wireless routers show up if you scan), so I changed my wireless security settings and all that, only to do the BT line test thing this morning and see that tragic 500kbps speedcap.
As I say I'm not really sure when the apparent instabilities happened and I'm not 100% sure on the best way to try and get it back to normal. Should I just use everything as normal or should I lay off the downloads?
Any help very much appreciated. Smiley

Re: Line Speed // IP Profile

Hi there,
Given your current sync speed I've requested an SNR reset for you, that should retrain the line to its fastest possible speed. It should take effect within the next couple of hours.
Hope that helps.

Re: Line Speed // IP Profile

I thought I'd leave it until today to do another speed test:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 428 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-500 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 500 Kbps

No improvement from yesterdays results... still got the dial up speeds.  Sad

Re: Line Speed // IP Profile

Not sure why but you're on ADSL Max rather than 21CN. We could raise a fault for you and get the profile sorted but I suspect moving across would both fix the problem and give you a much better speed - whichever you'd prefer please advise and we'll arrange it for you.

Nice one, thanks.
Am I going to be stuck with 500kbps speed until then? Or will this IP profile reset before then?

Re: Line Speed // IP Profile

I suspect it'll stay like that I'm afraid given that the SNR reset failed, though resyncing once a day (around lunchtime ideally) might give the exchange the kick it needs. Hope it does speed up for you.

Re: Line Speed // IP Profile

Sorry to sound like an idiot, but how do I go about this resyncing business?

Re: Line Speed // IP Profile

Best way is to log on to the router. From there either reboot the router using the button on the interface (which should do it all for you) or disconnect it from the ADSL via the interface and then power it off for at least 30 seconds and then back on.

Re: Line Speed // IP Profile

Ah alrighty, simple enough. I'll do that daily then and hope for an improvement. 500kbps is painful after what I'm used too.  Tongue
If there's anything else I can do to aid the profile reset e.t.c please let me know.
