Issues

OK, having a few issues with Plusnet at the moment and Customer Services couldn't shed any light.
When I am online on Xbox live playing a game of Fifa and someone else in the house does a simple search in google, my game suffers horrendous lag while the google searcvh is being carried out.
I have today added "Pro" onto the account for an extra £5 a month so gaming is prioritised but is this going to work?  WIll I still get lag when someone uses the internet?
I could understand if it was torretns or other downloads but I never have these on when gaming.  At he same time others in the house should be able to use the internet for simple searches without the fear of disrupting my gaming.
I was given some advice by a colleague that perhaps having interleaving switched off would help the issue.  Can someone confirm if this is correct?  Thanks in advance Cheesy

Re: Issues

HI foolishmrt,
Very strange. That certainly shouldn't happen. Are you both using wireless? Could you run a speed test for me and show us the results? Does it always happen? Interleaving wouldn't make any difference to that problem, although it can lower your pings. When it's off though it can result in intermittency.

It usually runs a bit higher than that though.  Its been like this a while, is there anything I can do with my router that can prioritise the traffic at all?  It's a Netgear...........

Re: Issues

interleaving would only reduce ping times.. wouldnt affect that sort of issue.

I'd also check that other things aren't running on the network either.

Re: Issues

Jojo, without sounding ungrateful or your advice, I am not an idiot.  I always check for other devices being connected etc.  However, I live right next to the telephoe exchange and should be hitting speed of 7meg constantly.  Therefore I should be able to run a PC doing google searches and play a game of fifa at the same time.  In fact, I should be able to have multiple devices connect and run with no lag so there is clearly a problem that is not being addressed.
As for Matt, if you aren't going to be helpful, don't post in the thread.
Everything is wired as well, wireless (in my opinion of course) is not very good.

Re: Issues

Given that low speed test can you post the stats from your router - noise margin, speed and attenuation
