Re: Is the doctor in?

There's another solution for you if you don't want to use OpenDNS (I wouldn't either) - use the new Google DNS server.
They say
Quote
Validity: Google Public DNS complies with the DNS standards and gives the user the exact response his or her computer expects without performing any blocking, filtering, or redirection that may hamper a user's browsing experience.

The Google DNS servers are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
I've checked and they do resolve www.humbleyardpractice.co.uk

Re: Is the doctor in?

Indeed they do, I'm testing them out on one of our home connections at the moment.
Is the problem happening *all the time* or has it become intermittent since Thursday? I'm asking as we switched half the DNS platform to use a different package.

Re: Is the doctor in?

it is intermittent I have got it twice today and once no, so it seems  as on another post one of the London DNS is OK, the other isnt

Re: Is the doctor in?

Ive been switching between open dns, google and automatic by isp. Never managed to get through using PN.Am sticking with Google until I get a resolution to the ticket.
Thanks to the community for testing this out.

Yep works for me but I do use one PN and one OpenDNS IP.

I think you may need to gateway hop so that you are using the DNS servers located in ptn. See http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,79576.msg669500.html#msg669500

Re: Is the doctor in?

Yep, I think Jelv's correct, until we replace the other DNS servers with the same package as the ones in the PTN datacentre you may find this domain it intermittent to load.

Re: Is the doctor in?

Don't know about intermittent Chris, I've never got it to load Huh As it happened I did a gateway hop yesterday, but still on a pcl. Before all these problems I used to be very happy with things on pcl-ag03, let's hope it gets back to that!

Re: Is the doctor in?

That's very odd Chris, I wouldn't expect it to fail 100% of the time unless you keep hitting the DNS servers running 'Unbound'. I'll see if I can dig out the info as to when we are planning the change of those over to PowerDNS.

Re: Is the doctor in?

In fact, it looks like we're planning to do them early next week, we'll of course service status once we have a definite date and timeslot confirmed.
