Internet says connected but not working

Hi, plusnet was “down” locally on Tuesday & I have had to use a hotspot for work since then. The light is now blue & it says I am connected, it then takes me to a “captive portal authorisation” page which also says I am connected to the internet, but I am not. I have restarted several times & my laptop & phone also. Still no Internet, can someone please tell me what is wrong & how to fix this so I can do my job, thanks.

Log into the router, go to the advanced broadband settings, and if the username is setup@plusdsl.net diconnect and change to your correct username and password. 

It may work if you try something in the pinhole at the rear for 30 secs and wait to see if that corrects things.
