Hello again...
Same problem as before.
Broadband is becoming very intermittant.
Router shows 2 losses of sync (one of these is from several days ago).
DNS resolution is ok.
Would you please explain why throughput keeps dropping?
No excuses. This is almost going to become a written letter incident. After that it will become legal.

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

A quick check shows your connection in excess of 48 hours at a time. These would not be indeicative of a problem.
In all cases, the records show your own modem initiating a disconnect.
Have you checked your equipment for idle timeout settings?

My modem has only disconnected when I force it to.
At all other times it has remained connected.
Perhaps I have used the term 'connection' wrongly.
What I mean is that despite the router being connected, every few minutes (and today it it much worse than the last 3 days) the internet drops dead. Router is still connected, but nothing can communicate with the internet.
We've had this on your dialup (0808) too.
USB modem suffers from this too so it isn't my end.
As recommended previously, I've tried the master socket, unplugging everything else, trying a different microfilter etc.
Infact I have exhausted all other things at my end.
Please can you tell me why DNS resolution is working yet nothing else is?
Presumably your servers are allowing dns lookups but stopping the rest of my traffic.
Notably, I was trying to download a software update using Azeurus today and suddenly everything has got MUCH worse.
Coincidence?

Ahh, that may shed light on things and may highlight a problem with the NAT stack of your modem or router.
Many modems and routers have issues when they become saturated with connections.
Due to the way that P2P sofware, such as that used in BitTorrent, ala Azeurus, these will very quickly saturate this. That can quite easily explain why it becomes much worse.
I would sugest reducing the maximum connection limit within the client. I may take some trial and error to reach an aptimal figure that is not going to impact the connection.
Loss of everything other than DNS would unlikely be something with the service itself. Infact, this would prove it is not a line based issue (with a line issue, you are going to see all or nothing at all).
When the problems occur, can you reach the modems configuration screen?
Does it provide a means to perform a ping?
If it does. The next time it happens, request it perform a ping on 212.58.224.84 and see what it says.
If it works, then the source of the problem is very much local. If this is the modem or the computer would be something that still needs to be investigated.

Yes I can access the router config pages.
Strange, cos I've never had this problem before using the same router.
