I have an original 4 or 5 year old ONT.
I have moved from a 500mb upload to a 900mb upload package. But the FAST speed test records 1.2Gbps download and 71mb upload on my laptop, e.g. the old ONT is not coping with the higher speeds too well.
The fix for this issue is recorded here, https://community.plus.net/t5/Full-Fibre/Upgraded-from-Fibre-500-to-900-and-upload-speed-is-unchange...
But I don't know how to order this newer ONT from Openreach. Could anyone point me in the right direction please?

You will need to get Openreach out, by contacting Plusnet.

The fix in the linked thread wasnt actually the new ONT, it was the fact that the line would have been re-provisioned due to the new ONT

Doubt it was a faulty ONT. The new ONT will have needed to have been registered with the OLT out on the network. Like @MisterW, I suspect it's the act of provisioning the replacement unit that kicked things into life.
I have a 5 yr old ONT and it handles a 900/115Mb connection just fine.

Is this a post about a 900/900 service or the more usual 900/100 type of service ?
Regardless, the Fast.com download result of 1.2Gbps is suspicious for being too high especially if the ONT or Router or Computer have a 1 Gigabit network port, meaning real world speeds max out around 930 Mbps.
If the download speeds are a bit odd perhaps the upload speed from Fast.com also needs a second opinion.
