Unless there's clear evidence that powerline negatively impacts your connection, there's probably no need to ditch it. The negative effect of powerline depends on lots of factors, one of which is how close the tel. cable is to the mains.
This is a class illustration that the problem might be the most innocuous of things. Who would have thought that the humble doing nothing faceplate might be the villain of the peace?
