Following suggestions as to how I might change the Internet Username
on a new (secondhand) Thomson Plusnet Router as bought on eBay.
I performed a reset using a paperclip and things went according to the book.
The power light turned red at first and then changed back to green.
This was then followed at intervals by the green lights for Internet, Broadband,
Ethernet and Wireless .
At no point was there any chance to change the Interner user name.
Visiting the Gateway GUI page showed that the Internet username
was still that of the previous owner. Nothing at all had changed.
Presumably the same must apply to all Plusnet configured
Thomson Router. That's is impossible to change the Internet
username.
Of which there are always plenty for sale on eBay.
If has been claimed, in such circumstances the previous owner is being
charged for the usage of the buyer - perhaps inadvertently on both sides
then I'm surprised such a situation has been allowed to continue.
For myself I've decided to disconnect the Thompson and re-connect using
the Voyager modem for now
