Email collection problem - mail.force9.net not accepting password

I keep getting the 'Please type your name and password' box.
When I click 'OK' it puts up the box again. Every 10 times or so it will connect and retrieve my email.
It was fine at 10pm yesterday but 5 hours later it's broken.
There's nothing on the service status page - is anyone else having problems?
[EDIT] sorry, I should have read the other topics first. The one about Home pages and webmail contained details about the pop3 problem. It would have been nice to see a service status - there is none detailed for email - just a 'green light'.

Re: Email collection problem - mail.force9.net not accepting password

Hi there,
I have just posted a Service Status on this.  Please see the following page
Our internal systems have only been back online for around 15 minutes to actually post a Service Status message, hence the delay of this.

Same on the plusnet servers.
There is an email authentication issue

It's now 6.30 and I'm getting the same problem as you chaps are (in Plusnet's webmail and in MS Outlook).  Very frustrating but it's reassuring to know that the boys and girls are on the case.  Roll_eyes

[Edit]
It havs gon back off line at 6:46   Sad
I got to look at 1 Yes 1 email then it went back off line.
PlusNet get your act together, get your net werk an bilt in back up system so wen one Server go's off line another Server go's on line.  You have 2 data centers so this is possible to do, with in a month yes?

Re: Email collection problem - mail.force9.net not accepting password

I still cannot collect my email via Outlook Express.  Keeps asking me to log on with my user name and password.  It's been like that since the early hours of this morning.
Adam's link takes me to a blank page and, as far as I can see, there is still no Service Status report.

Correct link is http://usertools.plus.net/status/archive/1203569584.htm but it is the same as what kreynolds posted.

Re: Email collection problem - mail.force9.net not accepting password

If you collect by Outlook, you can keep clicking on the OK button very rapidly and eventually you will complete a receive. It generally takes about 20 seconds.
Probably doesn't do PlusNet's systems much good though.....

Re: Email collection problem - mail.force9.net not accepting password

Following Peter Vaughan's link I can see the Service Status Report but it does not show up when accessing the Service Status Report on PlusNet's website.
The last one I can see is:  20/02/2008 @ 18:06  Incorrect Website Archiving(50097)
Why is that?  I always check the website Help and Support Pages for the Service Status Report.  Surely it should be posted there.

Re: Email collection problem - mail.force9.net not accepting password

Strangely enough, if you click on the archive link at the bottom of the Service Status Report on PlusNet's website, it appears at the top of the list.
Why should it be in the archive, but not in the normal service status?

Re: Email collection problem - mail.force9.net not accepting password

Well spotted Tony W.  It's the same for me.    Very strange that one.  Hopefully someone at PlusNet Towers will correct it when they read this thread.
Incidentally email still not working.
