I haven't forgotten abut this yet - just haven't had time to move lappy to routerand faff about, but hopefully I'll have a chance around 3.
A quick Speedtest.net check earlier this morning gave around 4.6Mbps.

Anyway, here are the same 3 sets of figures, run from the laptop connected by ethernet.

I'd strongly recommend removing your telephone number from the screenshot as it is publicly visible on here

@ jelv - inSSIDer shows only 3 connections in this area - me and one other on C1 and one onC6. Whats your suggestion for me to choose?

I know this hasn't been mentioned before, but as it's a relevant after about 8PM SNR looks very low, and usually means I may as well give up on using the internet. Comments?

If you getting a conflict with someone else on the same channel it might just be that after 8pm is when they are using theirs heavily.

Having swapped channels this morning,
I'll see what happens tonight. It's not a major problem as by that time I'm usually offline, but just at odd times I need access to help family with queries.

BUT and it's a big BUT, I can only surf from 0700 to 1900. As can be seen from the RouterStats stats below, SNR drops steadily evening (sorry there's none for yesterday evening) and gradually come back up in the morning.
Before anyone asks, there is NOTHING changing at home during this period, s I can only assume something external is happening - but I've no idea what that could be.
@jelv - I didn't think RouterStats could telnet into the v5 ?

I wasn't aware that router stats couldn't telnet on the V5 - another reason not to change from my V1!

However, when I got home last night (at around 2050) - the router was showing 0db. I watched it sit there f or about 5 miinutes, then gave up and ran backups on both machines before going to bed.
TBH - when this happens, so long as I don't need internet access, I find it easier to do something else.
Still curious to know why I can almost set my watch by it, though.
