You should seriously consider doing so.
A high proportion of what would appear on the surface to be a normal conversation is actually visual, tonal etc. and these additional information channels often clarify the raw words.
Emoticons add something of that to these otherwise easily misunderstood communications.
Exercise: Change the emoticons above so that it makes better sense.

Late to the party as usual,
I'd personally like to Welcome Jim to the fold, and I'm sure he will probably teach us youngin's a thing or two, maybe he could even teach Chilly to spell correctly sometime.
If that's not a challenge, what is?
Oh and for those who don't know, we now need to initiate Jim by means of funny handshakes and secret words, known only by those in the inner chambers.
