BT OpenReach Huawei EchoLife HG612 FTTC VDSL NTE Router Replacement?

Our LAN port on the BT Modem has stopped working and can't convince support to send a replacement.  Issue is that we have Unifi gateway behind it, and support will only send a Hub2 in a few days (this is for a business).  Any ideas?

I very much doubt that old-hat BT modems have been replaced like for like for some considerable time, so my suggestion would be accept the Hub2 or bust out the business petty cash and buy whatever equipment you need.

OK I guess will have to wait for Hub2 to turn up : /

The Hub 2 can be set to bridge (modem) mode which will effectively make it the same as the HG612.

... or you could buy a decent modern business grade modem, such as the DrayTek Vigor 167

You should be able to get next day delivery on a new one for around £105

or a 'like new' second hand one on eBay for around £20

If you do buy second hand, make sure you get the UK model - which is marked as "UK region" or model "v167-K", or EAN code = 4710484743848

When this first appeared in the UK, many were German imports which didn't work so well, so check before you buy.
