Re: BT Home Hub 5

I get my line speed on the 5GHz
But fluctuates on 2.4GHz
My line speed is 57Mbps.  I connect all my devices to 5Ghz network and non 5GHz wifi enabled devices connect to 2.4GHz
Very happy.  No charges on my BT account for the router apart from £6.95 postage charge.
Set up was easy.  Waiting to be put on the fast path

Re: BT Home Hub 5

So i have been using the new BT Home Hub 5 for a few weeks now and thought id just update on how im finding it so far . I have found it to be much more stable than the openreach modem and the fact being able to view connection stats .Wireless range appears to be speeds are a bit up and down on the 2.4ghz band but 5ghz band is perfect out of all the home hubs i have tried over the years this one has by far been the best one .

Re: BT Home Hub 5

Is it possible to turn off the BT Fon wifi with the homehub 5 when using it with plusnet? I know this wasnt possible within the hub settings on the homehub 4?

Re: BT Home Hub 5

Yes just by doing a factory reset and leaving it plugged into the Plusnet connection.  Then enter your PN details
It will disable after a few days.

Re: BT Home Hub 5

Thanks for that. Do I plug it directly to phone line or do I still need the BT modem?

Re: BT Home Hub 5

You don't need the openreach modem if you have the home hub 5 as it has a built in vdsl modem .

Re: BT Home Hub 5

Thanks David and James. Have you guys actually done this and got it working or anyone? Going to give it a go this evening fingers crossed it will work.
The plusnet router has weak wifi signal so i am hoping this BT one will be much better. Will then have to update my laptop wifi card too to make most of it.

As James has said you don't need the openreach modem, set mine up today and all working within a couple of minutes.

Re: BT Home Hub 5

All i did to set my HH5 up was simply enter my plusnet username and password into the required field and was connected straight away. With the openreach modem i found it would not stay connected for no more than 3 days but the HH5 has certainly made a huge difference if anyone is thinking about getting one id certainly recommend the HH5.

Re: BT Home Hub 5

The guide in the link below should help you.
http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,113872.0.html
This applies to to all hubs from 2 onwards on ADSL and 3 onwards if using FTTC
All hubs apart from 1 can be used on PN ADSL service
