Just wondering what the average length of time is for a loss of connection to be fixed? When the engineer comes on Monday (for the second time) it will be almost two weeks without broadband, is this a reasonable amount of time or am I too impatient?
Whilst I appreciate not having to explain to somebody in India what the problem is, I'm getting fed up of being asked to do the same things. I feel like I'm going round in circles and banging my head on the wall at the same time. I've spoken to six people today alone.
I've tried a different router (new, which I bought after I was told it is "probably a faulty router"), unscrewed my adsl socket and plugged into the master socket, tried different cables, three different micro filters and numerous combinations of the above-all to no avail. The dsl light just flashes, occasionally it goes steady (after a few hours) but I still cannot connect to the internet. It's driving me mad.
Luckily (?) I'm working nights and can access the internet at work at certain times (can't do my banking or shopping though).
Any advice or help greatly appreciated.

in all seriousness i reckon you're being too soft, would be going berserk at them and i would be on the phone t them every minute of the day , not because i want my line on but because the phone companies make such claims about how many awards and how good their service is, i'd make sure they lived up to those claims.....but when you get your line back on it will be all buggy and slow, you'll just wish you had went to the bank and shops yourself, lol

I'm sorry to hear that you've had this issue for a while tenno. I've set myself a reminder to check back with you after the engineer visit, we'll just need to understand the findings from that before knowing where we can take things next.

Right, an update.
BT engineer came today and couldn't get a connection at all. He went to the exchange and swapped to a spare pair of lines. (line loss was 99db on old pair, 60db on new) When he came back he could connect with all his test equipment, and when I plugged my router in the DSL light came on almost immediately. Yes!! success.
Unfortunately since then I have lost connection several times. Whilst on the phone to tech support I saw the DSL light go out twice in the space of ten mins. I am now back to swapping routers, filters test socket etc. When it was connected I managed to do some speed tests. Test 1: 975kbps, test 2: 2400kbps, test 3: 976kbps. Test 2 is my favourite.
The BT engineer mentioned something about getting my profile reset, can anyone tell me what will this do?

Hi tenno,
The line is looking a lot more stable now. I'll reset the SNR which may give you a bit more speed, although with the long line it may come down a little. Le tme know how it goes.

Ok, thanks Jojo.
I have now installed my new(netgear) router (on Monday) and I am still plugged into the test socket. I'm at work at the mo, but I will see how it goes over the next few days (until Sunday anyway, I'm away for a week from then). Hopefully if it's OK I may try refitting my ADSL wall socket and cable, and see how that goes.

Just a quick update from our side to say that we can see a more stable connection at present. Do come back to us on Monday and we can review the connection logs again for you to see if that continued (fingers crossed it will have!).

I will have to get back to you a week on Monday(31st) as I am away next week. I will leave everything connected and on while I'm away. I did a speed test this morning, but it hadn't improved, hopefully in a week it might.
