Thanks Mand. Just one thing I'm not quite clear about. The FAQ states "...you can set Data Transfer Watch at any price above your usual subscription price..." (my italics).
So if a Value customer in Market 3 were to set, say a limit of £6·99, would they get an extra 1GB?

If a Value customer sets their price at £6.99 currently they'd have one additional usage block added on (at £5). There's wordage on the page to that effect.
We're looking at changing that though.

That is a bit confusing. I can understand it not giving a 1Gb extra since it can only give in 5GB chunks now.... but to allow a £5 increase over £5.99 when they've set the limit at £6.99 seems to be a contradiction.
I fully understand how that might happen... eg it checks, have we reached £6.99 yet... no... ok allow extra bandwidth then (eg +£5)... ok now have we reached £6.99 yet... yes we're at £10.99!!! eeeek!
Surely it should say: We're at £5.99, can I add £5 for more bandwidth? NO, that would take us over the £6.99 limit set... throttle speed instead.
Does the tool need a re-think?

Re: £5 for 5GB

Im going to be signing my mum up hopefully this week and was looking at the Value option for her.
What is the 'Plusnet Extra' package going to cost for a market 1 exchange?
Do we know yet?

Re: £5 for 5GB

I'd guess within £1 either way of £16.49 (based on the differential for the existing products).

Value will still be on sale after 12th April... will just cost a little more per month.... 50p or a £1 more (I think). So yes worth getting in before April 12th.
EXTRA is a new package to replace PREMIUM.... but again that swap of products on sale happens on 12th April... existing users will still be able to keep their existing products forever (and the lower prices for next 12months too). Mand, is the Market 1 price on Extra available?
Cheers
Mike

Re: £5 for 5GB

Extra will cost £11.49 on Market 3. On Market 1 and 2 it'll be £11.49 for 3 months, and £17.99 as the ongoing price.

Plusnet Extra < Plusnet Premium?

Just received an email about a price freeze for a year, but it also had the following quote in it:
Quote
If you think you might need more usage, from 12th April we'll be launching a new product called Plusnet Extra which, for only £5.50 extra a month, will have 60GB of usage and the option of faster speeds. To find out more visit http://www.plus.net after 12th April.

As the price increase will take the value package to £6.49, adding £5.50 makes the total price £11.99 - that's the same price as the premium package which offers an 80GB limit. Am I missing something? Also the moving from £2 for 2Gb to £5 for 5Gb seems a bit cheeky - we're light users who sometimes scrape over our 10Gb limit (like this month), but may only use 11Gb, but this essentially forces the price of the Value package up to that of the Premium. So it's another strange introduction, or, as I said, am I missing something?

Re: £5 for 5GB

Ok, well after reading this thread (thanks Jim!) it would seem that in my situation (someone on Value who uses around 10Gb a month), it would be sensible to make the jump now to Premium, before Premium goes as it gives the same benefits as Extra, except it offers an extra 20Gb of data transfer. Does my reasoning sound correct? If so I think it's time to do some upgrading (I'm assuming there is no other difference between Premium and Extra?).

Re: £5 for 5GB

Premium is only £11.99 for three months, then it becomes either £15.99 in market 3 or £19.99 in market 1 and 2.
Extra will be £11.49 in market 3 or £11.49 for three months then £17.99 per month in market 1 and 2.
If you're in Market 3, and only just getting near or passing the Value limit then I'd reckon Extra is the best product if you're looking to upgrade?

Ok, well not looking to upgrade, but the £5 per 5Gb kind of means we're better off upgrading as I'm usually careful on what we do to stay at or around 10Gb (an extra £2 wasn't an issue really). I guess the extra package makes more sense as we're in a market 3 area, so £11.49 is the same as Value + 5Gb, but we get 60Gb instead (and those speed upgrade possibilities).
Ah well, as long as I get a bit footloose and fancy free with the old downloading, I guess Extra will pay me back!
