Re: Slow Speeds after move from Sky to Plusnet

Hi Matt,
Can you please arrange an SNR reset?
BT callout is cancelled due to something coming up at work.
Out of interest I purchased a new Plusnet TG582N router and it came today so i have it up and running at the moment (since around 9pm) and want to see if the line is any better with that in place.
Cheers,
Luke.

Re: Slow Speeds after move from Sky to Plusnet

Before we place a SNR reset we need to make sure your line is stable as this can make things worse. If you're not going ahead with the engineer visit then we'd need to monitor your line over the next couple of days to see if it remains stable, we can then decide if a SNR reset would be suitable on your line.

Thanks for the reply.
I will reply again Sunday evening to request the SNR reset. Let me know if that isn't a sufficient amount of time to monitor the connection.

That's plenty of time, hopefully the new router will make a difference. It already looks better;

Re: Slow Speeds after move from Sky to Plusnet

Hello,
I've noticed a definite improvement since i've been using the plusnet router.
No DSL dropouts noticed, and uptime is looking solid.
Could you do the SNR reset for me please?
Thanks,
Luke.

Re: Slow Speeds after move from Sky to Plusnet

Thank you.
Can you post a graph of my connection please to confirm it is more stable?
I can't see any drop in dsl connection apart from when the SNR reset was done, but I am seeing quite a few of these in the event logs:
Warning Sep 18 15:23:01 PPP link down (Internet) [87.115.96.219
Are these cause for concern?
Under "Internet" under the "Broadband Connection" section on the router console, this isn't as stable as the DSL side, the uptime seems to reset quite a few times a day, for instance, it is at around 22 minutes right now whereas DSL is reported to be up for 2 days 8 hours
Thanks,
Luke.

Re: Slow Speeds after move from Sky to Plusnet

Hi Chris
I'm not available for the following week for a BT visit so what I'll do is plug the router into the master socket and replace all filters throughout the house for the next week and then request a connection graph to see if there is any improvement.
If not then I'll then go back to the support team.
Thanks
Luke

Re: Slow Speeds after move from Sky to Plusnet

I have a funny feeling the problems all coincide with the neighbours having sky installed...

Re: Slow Speeds after move from Sky to Plusnet

It would be better if you plugged the router and phone in to the test socket which should disconnect all the extensions.

Re: Slow Speeds after move from Sky to Plusnet

Ahh sorry that's what I meant, test socket under the plate on the master socket. Presumably its safe to leave it plugged into that for a week and the phone in a separate socket downstairs?

Re: Slow Speeds after move from Sky to Plusnet

If there's a separate socket working when you are plugged in to the test socket your phone wiring is wrong. All the extension sockets should be connected to the back of the removable part of the master socket so that when you remove it to get at the test socket they are disconnected.

Re: Slow Speeds after move from Sky to Plusnet

So basically if I plug the router into the test socket my phone(plugged into socket downstairs) should disconnect along with any phones plugged into other sockets in the house?
